Having said that I have spent quite a few “mindful” months overcoming analysis paralysis which anti planning would have worked against excellently. I'm happy to see the concept of mindful eating gain even more momentum. Named after the Buddhist principle of focusing on the present, mindful eating is part of a rapidly growing non-diet movement. Her books written for general and academic readers include Mindfulness, The Power of Mindful Learning; On Becoming an Artist; and Counterclockwise: Mindful Health and the Power of Possibility. Learning Tai Chi's method of movement eliminates unnecessary muscle action and tension, which allows complementary groups of muscles to work naturally together, without strain. For example, I maintain a relatively involved system to help me choose what research projects to focus on (participants in my Deliberate Practice Pilot are learning about this now). The power of mindfulness, visualisation of the way we performed, interaction with a group and individually preparing ourselves for performance appears to be a resource we have not all quite tapped into to date. Recent events have reminded me of how the muscles without creating tension elsewhere.
